A Generation of Hate.

Ultra-violent, Ultra-exhilarating, Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In is based around the Kowloon Walled City, a Chinese ex-military base that became a lawless city of illegals and drug lords. This hemmed in city brings all the claustrophobia of tens of thousands of people living cheek-by-jowl, with only a bare glimpse of sunlight. This is all brought to the screen by experienced director Soi Cheang (Mad Fate, Limbo) who brings out the badness of all his actors in this visceral Neo-Noir revenge fest.

It’s Fast, it’s Brutal, and it’s Deadly.

Revenge is a cruel thing, especially when you don’t know it is coming.

Thirty years before the 1980s, the “City of Darkness”, Kowloon’s walled city was run by the “Dragons Head”, helped by the deadly “King of Killers” Jim Chan. The walled city was lawless, and the Dragon Head ruled with an iron fist, with Jim at his side, until Cyclone (Louis KooThrow down, The Mitchells vs the Machines) united all those opposed to the Tyrant Dragon head. Cyclone was not alone in his efforts to bring down the dragon head. There was Mr Big (Sammo HungWarriors Two & The Prodigal SonThe Millionaires ExpressTHE LUCKY STARS 3-Film Collection), and Dik Chau (Richie Jen, Fire of Conscience, Xing yuan), he was witness to his wife and children’s execution at the hands of Jim, and now thirty years later he is still bitter and in search of Jim’s offspring.

But the past is not on the mind of illegal immigrant Chan Lok Kwan (Raymond Lam, The Emperor and the White Snake, New Kung Fu Cult Master), he is trying to stay alive as someone tries to beat the life out of him. If he wins he will earn big bucks so that he can get a fake ID to live in Hong Kong and not hide every time he sees a police officer. Mr Big says that his ID will be ready in two weeks, in that time Lok hides in the shadows, until Mr Big’s right-hand man “King” Wong Gau  (Philip NgBirth of the Dragon, New Police Story) finds him and tells him his ID is ready. This is where we find out that Mr Big is not a nice criminal, as the ID is obviously a fake.

You paid for a fake ID, that’s what you get for turning the Triads down!

Feeling betrayed in this strange country, he does the only thing he can do, he flees, but on the way he grabs a bag, a bag full of drugs. King and his gang give chase, in homage to Police story’s fight on a bus, looks really painful, the chase ensues, and suddenly King and his crew come to a halt. Lok has managed to get into the walls of the Walled City. Mr Big’s men or anyone else are not allowed into Cyclone’s city, without prior permission. One of Cyclone’s men searches for Lok on a motocross bike to get around the many levels, which ends in an amazing fight.

This all leads to Lok in front of Cyclone, and it isn’t good for him, for now.

Sh!t stirrers end up dead!

But he has one option, to stay in the walled city.

I want money. In the Walled City, anyone willing to work, will find work!

This is Lok’s story that is tied into the events of decades ago, and will he make a life in the Walled City.

Brutally Brilliant.
