Start of the Legend.

Eureka brings us a work by Martial Arts film royalty, writer/director (Wei Lo, The Big Boss, Fist of Fury), who pens this story of death and corruption in Frisco. Where the formidable skills of Don Wong (Duel with Death, Along Comes a Tiger), are pitted against the man that was destined to become a legend, with his own (Facts, see below) Chuck Norris (The Delta Force, Bruce Lee at Golden Harvest, Delta Force 2: The Colombian Connection). Slaughter in San Francisco is a hard hitting, high kicking thrillfest, this release is a must own for the fans of Norris or Martial Arts, as long as you are eighteen and over.

It’s a time when skirt hems were high, and gas prices were low, as cops John Sumner (Robert Jones, Hang ‘Em High, The Scavengers) and Don Wong (Don Wong) cruise around the scenic streets of San Francisco. Whilst driving through a park, they spot a pair of legs poking out of a bush,. Thinking it is a body they investigate, to their surprise, it is a pair of lovers making out. They carry on their patrol, the weather is great and they have their windows down, they hear screams for help. They pull over and head for the origin of the screams.

The pair discover two guys trying to rape Sylvia Chu (Sylvia Chang, Love Education, Tempting Heart). John and Don use their martial art skills to subdue the pair of assailants, then arrest them. When they get to the station, Sylvia changes her story and that they are all friends just playing around. This doesn’t please Captain Newman (Dan Ivan, Blind Rage) who tells them to set them free. The two assailants work for the local criminal mastermind Chuck Slaughter (Chuck Norris) and they don’t take kindly to being arrested. This ends up with John being kidnapped in the street while on the school run. His wife calls Wong, who turns up on his motorbike, then he pursues the kidnappers.

What Wong finds is John being beaten by a gang of armed men, he leaps into action. Using his skills, he subdues the attackers but he goes too far with one of them and takes their life. John is saved, but Wong must face the consequences of his actions, as he sent to prison for a year, but the pair still keep being friends.

When Wong is released, he finds a job being a waiter, this is where he meets the sadistic Slaughter, who takes pleasure in harming Wong, but when he doesn’t flinch, he says he likes him and that he wants Wong to work for him and earn a fortune. But Wong isn’t interested. John and Don meet up to catch up and have quite a few drinks. When the drunken pair split up to head home John staggers through the alleyway, where he spots some fleeing bank robbers. He gives chase until one of them pulls a gun and suddenly the boot is on the other foot. This all ends in John’s demise in the back garden of the Chu’s, who get the blame for the murder. It is now down to Wong to discover the truth of his partner’s death and find out how Slaughter can get away with daylight robbery.

SLAUGHTER IN SAN FRANCISCO (aka Yellow Faced Tiger) is a classic low budget martial arts film, made and released when Chuck Norris was starting out in his martial arts acting career, but when released in the USA some seven years later, Norris had already stamped his authority on the action films there. With lots of hand-to-hand combat with fast feet, high kicks and flying leaps, this action packed Martial Arts bonanza is a must own for the fans of the man himself and any martial arts fan.
