5 Stars as Jack is Back, in the UK and wanted.
From the guys that brought us the original 24 (Robert Cochran, Joel Surnow) comes the 9th instalment of the Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland, The Lost Boys), after 4 years in hiding Jack reveals himself in London as a threat to his President is in the offing.
This is a No Spoiler Review!
The CIA are in London, as President James Heller (William Devane, The Dark Night Rises) is on British soil to make a plea to keep US Air Bases and Drone Planes on UK soil. But there is a threat on the presidents life, that is why those at the CIA are looking for suspects.
In the office Kate Morgan, (Yvonne Strahovski, I Frankenstein) starts to pack her office as she is to be shipped back state-side because she didn’t see that her husband has been selling secrets to the Chinese. The CIA are looking for a “High Value” suspect within London’s tramp community and head of office Steve Navarro (Benjamin Bratt, Miss Congeniality), sends in his second Erik Ritter (Gbenga Akinnagbe, The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3) to find the mark.
The mark is identified via surveillance and as they go in with flash bangs the mark is nowhere to be found, but he starts to take down the good guys and they spot that who they are after is Jack Bauer.
He can get away at any time but instead of heading for the roof Jack leads them on a merry tour of the streets and back alleys of London (a point only Kate spots).
Eventually he is stopped on the banks of the Thames and taken for questioning back at the CIA office, where the decision is made to hand him over to Special Activities (the Interrogation people). But Jack is the consummate professional, he knows what he is doing and what he is doing is trying to free his only friend in the world, Chloe O’Brian (Mary Lynn Rayskub, Julie & Julia).
With ruthless efficiency Jack does what he does best and Kate, once again, is the only one who spots it, as Erik has a huge dislike to a traitors wife being present on a live mission, never mind being the one who is on top of things.
Right without going into Details.
This is a must own, this is an Ace instalment in the Jack Bauer World. It is Intense and violent in the way that only Jack can do.
With brilliant acting from all assembled:
Kim Raver, Michael Wincott, Tate Donovan, Michelle Fairley, Emily Berrington, Liam Garrigan, Stephen Fry, Branko Tomovic, Giles Matthey, Ross McCall, Joseph Millson.
