3 Star

Shmuck’s Luck.

Written by Academy Nominee Fredrick Stroppel (Mother of the Week, The Searcher) and staring Greg Kritikos (Witless Protection Program, Scriptless), with additional scenarios by Timothy Hines (War of the Worlds the True Story, 10 Days in a Madhouse), Joanne Scorica (Mango Tango, Stolen Breath: The Truth Revealed) and Teddy Smith (Chrome) Tomorrow’s Today is a very pleasing tale of a couple of guys just trying to make it through life. Directed by Timothy Hines, who keeps a good pace, as our haphazard pair try to get themselves out of trouble. It is not always the heroes that have the luck. #supportindiefilm

Astoria, New York City, a bustling town full of eateries and small businesses, a great mixing pot of cultures. Two of its residents are Tommy G (Annunziato Carbone) an out of work actor who is convinced that he looks similar to the English actor Tom Hardy. Tommy G has the unfortunate trait of being a klutz with a gambling problem. This is also a problem for Tommy’s lifelong friend, Charlie Boy (Greg Kritikos) who does his best to keep Tommy out of a concrete overcoat. Charlie has a murky past as he used to work for the local mob boss Big Angie Bossano (Dominick Martini, Rich Boy, Rich Girl, The Brawler) and his second Vincent Gallo (Colin Buckingham, Committed, Black Magic for White Boys). The local cop Detective Frank (Teddy Smith, Chrome) is trying to get Big Angie behind bars, and he wants Charlie to be the guy to wear a wire, that nails him, but Charlie is no snitch.

Tommy being Tommy, he doesn’t learn from previous mistakes, this leads him to owing the nasty guys more money. So once again this becomes Charlie’s problem, which in turn becomes Shakes’ (Dave Morrissey Jr., You’re Invited, The Most Dangerous Man) problem, the number three in their friendship. Tommy tells Charlie that he owes the local bookkeeper $3000, so Charlie does a scam at their local club. When he hands over the money he finds out that it isn’t $3000, but $30,000. Now that is a proper dilemma for Charlie, Tommy and Shakes’.

Astoria is a close knit community and Sal’s pizza place is where everything is discussed, Taneesha (Nicky Sunshine, Whatever It Takes the Movie: When Blood Runs Cold, The Hand of Glory: Part Two) now runs the best pizza place in town, after Sal passed away.

Charlie Boy, even swallows his pride and tries to borrow the money from his ex, Donna (Kelly LeBrock, Weird Science, Wrongfully Accused), but they have to find another way to raise the cash, Tommy’s mind is just on one thing the liquor store across the road. This is where their troubles really start. You’ll have to watch Tomorrow’s Today to see how it all pans out. A big shout-out has to go to Actress, producer, writer Susan Goforth (War of the Worlds the True Story, Beat Angel)

Oh, and don’t forget Dave the Magician (Dave Cremin).

Tomorrow’s Today is a great watch, and you will be singing along to the theme song from the first few notes. (by Susan Goforth, and Sandy Chila. Performed by Maedi)
