Acrobatics, Kung Fu and Very Big Guns.
Co-written and directed and acted by Corey Yuen (The Transporter, Righting Wrongs) who has an extensive knowledge of martial arts, and he certainly gets the best out of his wards, in this female lead action masterpiece that has it all. She Shoots Straight is a must own for any Martial Arts fan, male or female.
It’s a joyous day, Mother Huang’s (Pik-Wan Tang, Fatal Vacation, Mr. Possessed) only son Inspector Huang Tsung-Pao (Tony Ka Fai Leung, Men Suddenly in Black, The Lover) is marrying fellow police officer Inspector Mina Kao (Joyce Godenzi, Three Films With Sammo Hung, Eastern Condors). His sisters Ling (Carina Lau, Infernal Affairs II, Days of Being Wild), Ju (Sandra Kwan Yue Ng, Golden Chicken, Echoes of the Rainbow) are as impressed by their superior officer in the police force. But Mother is only interested in one thing, an heir.
Have a Lotus seed, and you’ll soon have kids.
But Mina is a career cop, and she doesn’t want any children until she makes Superintendent, Pao has other ideas though. Their boss Supt. Liu (Chi-Wing Lau, Police Story, Legend of the Brothers) is an ass, as he fancies Mina and gets her back at work the next day, along with her new sisters-in-law, protecting a visiting princess at a fashion show. This is the first of a lot of action and stunts and martial arts. As the show starts, a lot of smoke is produced, but it isn’t part of the show, it is a raid by kidnappers. The bullets soon start flying as everybody scatters, and Mina jumps into action as she chases down the kidnappers, to save the princess. Her bravery sees her get a promotion, which does not sit well with her step-sisters, especially the hotheaded Ling.
Meanwhile, the main plot line starts as at a Vietnamese refuge centre Yuan Hua (Wah Yuen, Kung Fu Hustle, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) and his associates are planning a raid on the New World Nightclub. But first they must get out of the camp, so the word goes out around the camp, and soon there is a big A-frame to lower Hua to his sister Ying (Agnes Aurelio, JFK, Licence to Steal) in a boat. Wherever Hua goes, trouble follows, and soon the guns he needs for the raid are being used on the innocent people of Hong Kong in Bird Street.
Mina and the girls get wind of the raid and decide to go undercover. Let the action begin.
She Shoots Straight has it all, and is pure adrenalin fuelled action.
