3 Star
Don’t Cross the Violent Boss.
From writer, director, producer Gigi Gaston (Rip It Off, Nanny’s Killer Scandal) she brings us a hard gritty road trip film with a big slice of buddy film. Where the lead actress Lena Headey (Game of Thrones (TV Series), Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) faces her two worst pet hates, her ex and a child. A strong female powered film, from the writing to the solid delivery.
Gypsy (Lena Headey) is looking forward to a new life as a writer, writing about her previous life as a burlesque dancer. But before that can happen, she has to do one last performance at the local cocktail bar. As she is looking at old photos, she is being spied on by her young neighbour Sam (Dean Scott Vazquez, Mr. Robot (TV Series), Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan (TV Series)). She spots him, and he runs off.
Whilst she is giving her performance, Sam gets a phone call from his father Ralph Stein (Zachary Mooren, Better Days, Seven Days) who tells him that he has to grab the iPad and get out of the house, and he should follow the emergency plan that they have practised. Ralph also phones Gypsy and tells her that he has messed up, he has embezzled money from local criminal Jack (Sam Worthington, Avatar, Clash of the Titans), Gypsy’s ex-partner.
Jack’s justice is swift and ruthless and soon everybody in Ralph’s SUV is dead, and young Sam witnesses Jacks goons Mike (Chris Mullinax, The Comeback Trail), and Eddie (Martin Sensmeier, The Magnificent Seven) do the foul deed. Tommy (Cam Gigandet, Twilight) couldn’t make this hit.
Gypsy returns home and as she is sorting her stuff out for her trip North, she hears a noise in the house. Grabbing her gun she goes to find the reason for the noise. It’s Sam cowering in the bath with his Jack Russell Moses. He tells her all about the fate of his father and mother in The SUV.
As Mike and Eddie search Ralph’s house, Jack calls and tells them to find the iPad and the kid. They also go over to Gypsy’s house to see if she has seen the kid.
When did Gypsy get a dog?
She has a plan for Sam, and that is to get him to his uncle Rabbi Stein (John Ales, Sneaky Pete (TV Series)) via the bus station, as she doesn’t like children, and definitely not a traumatized one. She has a book to finish and a new life to start. But Jack and his goons are going to be a big spanner in the works, never mind his new girlfriend Lisa (Emma Holzer, Barely Lethal)
You don’t know much about love, do you… Better let some in before it’s too late.
Nine Bullets is a tense cat-and -mouse chase across America as Gypsy and Sam try their hardest to avoid Jack’s men.
I’m a cat, it takes nine bullets to kill me.
